Tinkerbell Dress up Games for Kids

Christmas provides a time to focus on spending quality time with family and friends. One way to incorporate fun into a Christmas celebration is to implement dress up games into it. Join the excitement of dress up games with a familiar children's character, such as Tinkerbell, the fairy from "Peter Pan," for a Christmas celebration that appeals to children and the adults who love them.

Paper Dolls

Make a Christmas themed Tinkerbell dress up game with paper dolls. Make Tinkerbell and friends paper dolls by drawing pictures of the characters, cutting them out and coloring them. Create Christmas and winter clothes by drawing the clothes on paper and cutting them out. Clothing items could include a Santa style hat, scarf or earmuffs. Put all the clothes in the center of the table and have players take turn rolling a die. Each player gets one roll. If she rolls a six she can select a piece of clothing for her character. She must pass the die to the player on the right who also rolls to try to get a six. The first player to add three pieces of clothing for her fairy is the winner.

Costumes

Gather fairy and Christmas-related costume items for a dress-up race. Find clothing items such as winter and Santa hats, fairy wings, scarves, scepters and gloves. Put an equal amount of clothing items into two piles. Tell players that they are fairies and that they are on a race to see who can get dressed up first to play in the first snow in Neverland. Have two players race to see who can put on all the clothing items the first. If more than two players are playing, divide the group into teams.

Party Game

Make a Tinkerbell dress up game to play at a Christmas party. Draw a Christmas scene on a poster. Include a Christmas tree and Tinkerbell and her friends -- Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael -- decorating for Christmas. Draw and cut out Santa style hats on another piece of paper. Put double-sided tape on the back of the hats. Blindfold the players and have them try to get the Santa hats onto the characters' heads. The player who comes closest to getting a hat on a head is declared the winner.

Other Tinkerbell Dress-up Games for Kids

Engage children in a fashion show competition for Christmas. Have each child dress up as Tinkerbell or one of her fairy friends. Then ask them to dress their favorite fairy for Christmas. The outfits might include a stocking cap, a sparkling dress, a bow tie or some fancy shoes. Have a fashion show and have a parent judge which fairy is dressed the most appropriately for Christmas.

Make some small Christmas outfits for Tinkerbell and friends dolls. The dolls are available at toy stores nationwide. Make a winter coat, stocking cap or a special Christmas dress for the dolls out of fabric and a sewing machine. Then send children on a scavenger hunt to locate the clothing items to dress Tinkerbell and the other fairies for Christmas.

Winter Face Masks for Kids

Kids love to dress up and pretend to be other people, animals or even mythical creatures such as elves. If there is an upcoming winter party or event where kids will pretend to be someone or something else, create a winter face mask to go along with the rest of the costume. Creating a winter face mask can also be a fun way to pass time on a cold winter day.

Old Man Winter

Historically, many cultures base their beliefs on seasonal themes, such as winter solstice. Creating a traditional mask can be educational for children as you discuss the lives and beliefs of those cultures. To make an Old Man Winter mask, buy a clear plastic mask and paint it white. Spray on glue and add some glitter. Cut "icicle" shapes from white poster board and tape these to the edge of the mask.

Holiday Masks

Creating holiday masks can get everyone in the spirit. Whether you create an actual reindeer mask or add one with non-toxic face paint, a child will be thrilled to become a holiday creature. Craft stores and other large retailers are a good source for supplies. Discussing which character your child would like to dress as can be entertaining as ideas are generated and your child's enthusiasm grows.

Winter Animals

Create a mask based on a winter animal or an animal that is associated with winter, such as a polar bear. Use craft foam to create a polar bear face, or you can use white and black face paint directly on your child's face. Use cotton balls to add fuzzy ears and paint a black nose. Gather several children together to create winter masks and put on a play based on the lives of these animals and the environment in which they live.

Winter Cabin Getaway Game

The Winter Cabin Getaway Game is another dress-up game, this time with the theme of going away for a winter holiday with a few girl friends and needing to pick out a stylish outfit for the occasion. The girl is on the left hand side of the screen, and on the right there is a circular control panel that is used to select new items of clothing. You select different hats, hair, scarves, gloves, sweaters, pants and shoes. When you are happy with your creation, you can click on "Show" to display your outfit in an idyllic winter setting, with the warm log cabin in the background.

Winter Clothes Craft

A winter clothing craft project gives the preschoolers a chance to add some creativity to the theme. Create templates for different winter clothing items such as mittens, hats, coats and scarves. Provide each child with a body shape on a piece of paper and a template for each type of winter clothing item. Students trace the templates onto construction paper and cut them out. Mancala Snails

Mancala might the oldest game in the world. It was first played in ancient Africa, and in modern times mancala is often studied when studying the diversity of African countries. The game is a counting strategy game in which two players sit on either side of a board with two rows of six dents, and larger bowl on either end. Players can move groups of stones, marbles or other pieces by transferring one piece to each bowl in a counter-clockwise motion. Pieces collected in the large bowls are counted as points, and each player determines which pieces to move to earn the most points. The game ends when all pieces have been captured.

Have the girls tie the yarn onto the rings as quickly as they can, and declare the first girl to finish a complete pompom set the winner.
