Tinkerbell Dress up Games for Kids

Christmas provides a time to focus on spending quality time with family and friends. One way to incorporate fun into a Christmas celebration is to implement dress up games into it. Join the excitement of dress up games with a familiar children's character, such as Tinkerbell, the fairy from "Peter Pan," for a Christmas celebration that appeals to children and the adults who love them.

>> Kids Online Games

Paper Dolls

Make a Christmas themed Tinkerbell dress up game with paper dolls. Make Tinkerbell and friends paper dolls by drawing pictures of the characters, cutting them out and coloring them. Create Christmas and winter clothes by drawing the clothes on paper and cutting them out. Clothing items could include a Santa style hat, scarf or earmuffs. Put all the clothes in the center of the table and have players take turn rolling a die. Each player gets one roll. If she rolls a six she can select a piece of clothing for her character. She must pass the die to the player on the right who also rolls to try to get a six. The first player to add three pieces of clothing for her fairy is the winner.

Costumes

Gather fairy and Christmas-related costume items for a dress-up race. Find clothing items such as winter and Santa hats, fairy wings, scarves, scepters and gloves. Put an equal amount of clothing items into two piles. Tell players that they are fairies and that they are on a race to see who can get dressed up first to play in the first snow in Neverland. Have two players race to see who can put on all the clothing items the first. If more than two players are playing, divide the group into teams.

Party Game

Make a Tinkerbell dress up game to play at a Christmas party. Draw a Christmas scene on a poster. Include a Christmas tree and Tinkerbell and her friends -- Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael -- decorating for Christmas. Draw and cut out Santa style hats on another piece of paper. Put double-sided tape on the back of the hats. Blindfold the players and have them try to get the Santa hats onto the characters' heads. The player who comes closest to getting a hat on a head is declared the winner.

Other Tinkerbell Dress-up Games for Kids

Engage children in a fashion show competition for Christmas. Have each child dress up as Tinkerbell or one of her fairy friends. Then ask them to dress their favorite fairy for Christmas. The outfits might include a stocking cap, a sparkling dress, a bow tie or some fancy shoes. Have a fashion show and have a parent judge which fairy is dressed the most appropriately for Christmas.

Make some small Christmas outfits for Tinkerbell and friends dolls. The dolls are available at toy stores nationwide. Make a winter coat, stocking cap or a special Christmas dress for the dolls out of fabric and a sewing machine. Then send children on a scavenger hunt to locate the clothing items to dress Tinkerbell and the other fairies for Christmas.

Winter Face Masks for Kids

Kids love to dress up and pretend to be other people, animals or even mythical creatures such as elves. If there is an upcoming winter party or event where kids will pretend to be someone or something else, create a winter face mask to go along with the rest of the costume. Creating a winter face mask can also be a fun way to pass time on a cold winter day.

Old Man Winter

Historically, many cultures base their beliefs on seasonal themes, such as winter solstice. Creating a traditional mask can be educational for children as you discuss the lives and beliefs of those cultures. To make an Old Man Winter mask, buy a clear plastic mask and paint it white. Spray on glue and add some glitter. Cut "icicle" shapes from white poster board and tape these to the edge of the mask.

Holiday Masks

Creating holiday masks can get everyone in the spirit. Whether you create an actual reindeer mask or add one with non-toxic face paint, a child will be thrilled to become a holiday creature. Craft stores and other large retailers are a good source for supplies. Discussing which character your child would like to dress as can be entertaining as ideas are generated and your child's enthusiasm grows.

Winter Animals

Create a mask based on a winter animal or an animal that is associated with winter, such as a polar bear. Use craft foam to create a polar bear face, or you can use white and black face paint directly on your child's face. Use cotton balls to add fuzzy ears and paint a black nose. Gather several children together to create winter masks and put on a play based on the lives of these animals and the environment in which they live.

Winter Cabin Getaway Game

The Winter Cabin Getaway Game is another dress-up game, this time with the theme of going away for a winter holiday with a few girl friends and needing to pick out a stylish outfit for the occasion. The girl is on the left hand side of the screen, and on the right there is a circular control panel that is used to select new items of clothing. You select different hats, hair, scarves, gloves, sweaters, pants and shoes. When you are happy with your creation, you can click on "Show" to display your outfit in an idyllic winter setting, with the warm log cabin in the background.

Winter Clothes Craft

A winter clothing craft project gives the preschoolers a chance to add some creativity to the theme. Create templates for different winter clothing items such as mittens, hats, coats and scarves. Provide each child with a body shape on a piece of paper and a template for each type of winter clothing item. Students trace the templates onto construction paper and cut them out. The kids then decorate their winter clothing cutouts to create a custom look. Help them glue the clothing to the body shape to dress their people.

Save Money with Online Gaming for Kids and Teens

Save money with online gaming ! Everyone, particularly kids and teens, seems to love video games nowadays, don't they? Whether they're the learning and educational games geared toward the very young market (and their parents), or the more technically advanced role playing games and "first person shooters" aimed at a somewhat older market, with the ever-popular "dress up games for girls" that are currently hitting it so big with "tweens", video games are popular and yes, they're a lot of fun! Do you like or even, perhaps, love video games?

There are tons of different platforms, everything from Sony Playstation and PSP to the "work up a sweat" Nintendo Wii, not to mention the ultra-popular Xbox 360 (we have everyone of these at my house)! How about you?

How many kinds of games do you or your kids own? How many do you rent each month? Do you sometimes get sick thinking about how much money you've spent on video games? I know I do, and that's why I encourage my friends and family members to further encourage their own family members to visit the "free games" sites on the Net-some of those games that they feature are so much fun, and best of all, they're FREE!

There are lots and lots of these "free gaming" sites springing up, it seems like every day I find another and another and another that I haven't seen before, and while the quality of lots of these sites definitely leaves something to be desired, there are also some that are obviously very professionally designed, a pleasure to view and even more importantly, a pleasure to hang around and play some of the sometimes thousands of free games that they offer.

All you have to do is search one of the big (or small) search engines for "free online gaming" or something similar, and Bingo, you'll find more games than you'll ever be able to play in your lifetime--and a ton of money saved, if you can convince the gamers in your life to visit these sites more often, and shy away from the rental companies and gaming stores once in a while.

With so many free online gaming sites to choose from, I'll even help you get started! You'll find lots of fun and even educational games for your kids at Kids Play Free Games, a somewhat newer game site that just hit the scene a month or so ago. Try out some of the games there and see what you think !

Dressup Games: 6 Things Every Parent Should Know

If you are the parent of a girl, you might already be familiar with the idea of dressup games, but rather than simply paper dolls that have moved online, these games are increasingly more valuable to your child growth and entertainment.

Dressup games are educational.

It is hard to think of the games as being educational, but with the sheer number of opportunities to create dolls with mystical or period looks, your child is learning quite a bit about history and cultures. Often the websites that include these dolls also include articles and blogs that the girls can read and enjoy. With relevant information about history, society and other topics, these also present a nice opportunity for your child to learn new things.

Dressup games are creative.

Every parent wants their child to be creative, but it can be challenging to find the right opportunities as she grows older. The games give her an opportunity to work with colors, patterns and visual design. Fashion is certainly creative and how she uses the dolls can lead to even greater creativity.

Dressup games encourage communication.

It seems like a solitary game. Design a fashion doll and move on. But actually, working with the dolls created through these games is often a social thing. When the dolls are posted online or included in contests, there is discussion about the activities among people from all corners of the globe. Many of the games can also be discussed on forums and message boards building even more communication opportunities for your child.

Dressup games are deeper than you think.

Rather than dressing up a simple doll, your child is creating a background story in her mind for every doll she creates online. As she works with the mermaid choices, she is almost certainly concocting some sort of mermaid story in her head as she works and if she is encouraged to do so, she might even write that story down or use it as part of the contests often offered by the sites.

Dressup games have huge varieties.

Unlike the Barbie dolls of her past, your child can now find a huge variety of dolls online. She can dress up a doll of any color and even change the color of the dolls to suit her personality. But doll options exist even beyond the colors of the dolls. There are dolls from every fantasy created online and your child has the chance to work with all of them from the same place.

Dressup games are great entertainment.

In a world where children are frequently bored and looking for the next level of excitement, the games can certainly deliver. Playing fashion games online gives your child endless entertainment. And while they are fun, they are not as addictive as many of the role playing games meaning your child will also be able to tear herself away when she is ready to move on to other activities.

These new celeb looks can also be shared with friends and let them go gaga over your fashion sense and style statement. Dressup games also help you explore new looks and emulate the style of any celebrity whose style statement is something you like as well.

How to Store Kids Dress Up Clothes

Your children love to play dress up. In fact, they love it so much they dress-up almost daily, and then every evening dress-ups are scattered across your floors...

Sound familiar ? You may need a dress-up storage option that is more child-friendly. Perhaps you don't even have storage for those Cinderella dresses yet ! Storing dress-up clothes doesn't have to be headache. This guide will help you determine what type of storage option you need so that you can find the best dress-up clothes option for your family.

Grab a pen and jot down your answers to these next questions. This will help you get a general idea on what you're looking for.

1. How often are the dress-ups used? If they are used on a regular basis, you will need to store them in a playroom or bedroom. You'll probably be looking for a storage option with visual appeal. If the dress ups aren't used very often, you can store them in stackable plastic tubs in a garage or closet shelf.
2. How many dress ups do you have? Do you have every one of Cinderella's dresses or just a few princess costumes?
3. Do you need to store general dress-ups or are you looking for a more organized option?

Now that we've looked at the basics, it's time to get ideas.
Under-the-bed tubs: Whether your storing Cinderella, Snow White, or Sleeping Beauty dresses, it doesn't matter. These slim storage tubs are great if you are low on space and don't have too many dress-ups. Pick up a few of these and label them for an organized storage option. This is also one of the most economical storage options. Pros: Cheap, organized, doesn't take up any extra space.

Cons: Each tub can only store a few items. Note: tub options do not allow you to hang those princess dresses.

Storage Chest: Cedar chests in particular offer a great visual appeal and a fair amount of storage. If your dress-ups aren't used on a weekly basis, try a chest that will get more air like a white wicker chest. Otherwise, just make sure that the wooden chest is stored in a dry place !

Pros: Visually appealing, large, protects clothes. Cons: Takes up space, doesn't allow clothes to be organized. Note: tub options do not allow you to hang those princess dresses

Dress up Armoires: These can be purchase online or at particular toy or furniture stores. Call around to see if any stores near you carry them so you can see what they look like. Typically these have hooks, drawers, and mirrors assembled on them in a child-friendly way. Pros: Organized, visually appealing, easy to use. Cons: Often expensive, difficult to find.

DIY Dress up Armoire: If you're looking for all the conveniences of a dress-up armoire without the price tag, this may be a good option for you. Purchase individual closet storage pieces and assemble them together. Try using cubbies, large cubicles, and coat racks. Purchase some coat hooks and mirrors and add them in the cubicles and rack area. Don't forget to pick up some baskets for the cubbies! Pros: Customizable, visual appeal, easy for child to use Cons: Hassle of finding and putting together the furniture
