How To Use Colors For Your Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas Part 3

In the final part of our series sharing Christmas tree decorating ideas, we will look at using different themes of colors to decorate your Christmas tree. Although the same type of accessories will still be used, changing theme colors can produce a huge effect in your tree's overall look.

The two most important decorative factors in determining a theme color are lights and colors of bells, stars and balls, so keep these in mind when shopping for new ornaments to fit your color theme.

Blue Christmas

The usual color for Christmas tree decorations are a mix of red and gold, so why not go for something fresh and icy like blue instead? There are a variety of ways to produce a blue Christmas, such as littering your tree with blue bells, balls and stars and using blue neon for wired lighting. You can also go for a semi snow and ice look with blue accessories and white lights. Although not your usual cosy Christmas color, a well done blue Christmas tree can come out really cool and impress your visitors with its unusual hue.

Red Christmas

This theme of color will look classic and absolutely beautiful if done to perfection. And the good news is that it isn't really hard to do so. For a red Christmas, shop for your usual tree ornaments but buy them only in red and white colors. Get a good mix, about 50-50. Make sure these include garlands, balls and stars. Once you are done hanging these on your tree, throw on some wired white lights (the key thing here is to keep them at one color) and you will see a different Christmas tree in front of you. Similar colors, but brand new look!

These are just some examples of using different lights and ornament colors to create a theme Christmas. I'm sure there are many more examples out there waiting for you to explore. If you employ a little creativity, you may even come up with a unique color theme of your own!

How To Dress Up Your Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas Part 2

In Part 1 of my article sharing fresh Christmas tree decorating ideas, we explored a few interesting and simple ways to give your tree a good makeup this coming Christmas. On top of those, there are actually many more novel methods to decorate your Christmas tree. Bear in mind that beautiful tree decorations are often the result of letting your imagination and creativity run free so don't be afraid to try out ideas you may have.

With that said, here are two more cool ways to dress up your tree:

Using Lego Mini figures

This is a really magical and creative idea. I saw this Christmas tree last year in a toys 'r' us shop in Japan and it immediately caught everyone's attention. One person even offered to buy the entire tree! The cool part about Lego figurines is their cute and miniature size, which allows you to adorn your tree with many of them. On top of that, Lego seems to have many figurines that relate to Christmas, such as Santa Claus and normal folks clad in Christmas colors. It can be quite costly but if you are looking for a special Christmas tree this year you should probably give this a real thought!

Use a theme of white Christmas

If you've been mainly sticking to the traditional colors of gold, silver and red for all your past Christmases, look for a fresh change this year with white. For those who particularly enjoy snowing and indulging in the breath of winter, nothing should satisfy you more than a snow-covered tree in the house. It is easy to make a white Christmas tree by just rolling a long strip of white garland around it. You can also throw in some white crepes paper and use white ornaments to complete the theme.

Hope you enjoy these ideas as much I do. Look out for Part 3 in this series for even more Christmas tree decorating ideas !

Novelty Christmas Fancy Dresses to Party In

The start of December seems to herald the advent of Christmas and everyone gets into a flurry of activity. Apart from the preparation of goodies, the Christmas costume is a major source of attraction for kids and adults alike. The most popular Christmas dress is Santa Claus' costume. Nearly every street corner has a vendor selling red caps and a Christmas father face mask. Shops display the Santa dress in their showrooms. All fancy dress parties held at the year end, be it home or office have Christmas father or two in their midst. There are many other characters to be portrayed and so you could try your hand at some of the other alternate Christmas costumes, to be different from the rest.

There is a very wide range of Christmas fancy dresses for both men and women and even for children. The women could try their hand at the winter fairy and the angel costumes. Most of the dresses are made of silk, satin or velvet and come with a fancy head gear. They are outstanding in any Christmas fancy dress party. You may have to buy the wand and the fish net stocking to go with the dress though. If your dress has wings, then you will have to be extra careful while moving among people.

The elf costume come in a various sizes and look very festive with a short green dress, a green bell - tipped cap and green and white stockings for women. There are female reindeer costumes too. Most of them come with the red nose, sometimes you may have to purchase it separately. The naughty Miss Santa outfit and the snow lady are other great outfits to try.

The men have a wide variety of Christmas fancy dress costumes to choose from. They could dress up as Rudolph the red nose reindeer, elves, gnomes and snowmen too. In case you decide to become a snowman and go in for the traditional jumpsuit, keep in mind the fact that it will hamper you movements. There are amusing novelty snowman outfits too. If you want to try your hand at something new, you could wear the adult Christmas tree costume but remember that this outfit will be a problem when visiting the washroom.

In case you want to break the monotony, go for the nativity costumes too. Women can dress up as Mary while the men could dress up as Joseph, the shepherds or the wise men with their bright shining head gears. Kids could wear the Christmas turkey costume or dress up as a lamb or sheep. Generally the most apt costume for babies and toddlers is the Baby Boy Santa Suit. Children do make cute angels and reindeer, too. The kids' reindeer costume is very cute as it comes with an attached hood that has the eyes, ears and antlers too. The toy soldier outfit makes for a very good costume as it is very easy to manage and looks very good on small boys.

Kids Christmas Fashions

The Christmas season is upon us and it's time to get the girl's red dresses on and the Christmas dress-ups out for family pictures and greeting cards. This years Christmas fashions are spotlighting red and black, which are two colors you can easily incorporate into your child's Christmas fashions.

For family photographs, try going with the same base color and different accessories or textures. For example, if your chose the color red, let your husband wear his favorite red sweater while you don your satin shirt. Add a belt to your girls red dresses and a button-up shirt to your sons red vest. The slight variations in your dress will allow for more personality to show through in your photograph while the base color will unite the image. Letting your children choose some of the variations, like letting the girls pick out a headband and the boys their tie, will help make Christmas dress-ups not quite as "boring" for your children.

Little girls love to dress up and feel like princesses. The princess look is bigger than ever right now, so let your little girl be like her own princess. It is easy to help a little girl look like a Christmas princess. Put her in a red dress, silk is a great choice for the princess look, and curl her hair. Add some white gloves or a tiara to the outfit, and don't forget the shoes! Since girls love to mimic the adults around them, let her carry a purse. She will surely feel like a princess then!

Getting boys to endure Christmas dress-ups is much more difficult. If you let them help pick out the outfit, he'll be more prone to enjoy wearing it.
Compromise: let him pick out the sweater while you pick out the shirt, or vice versa. That way you can correct any fashion disasters (like a grey argyle sweater vest!) with something a little more appropriate for the Christmas season (like a red textured button-up that ties in that argyle with the right level of sophistication). Remember, boys like to look like their role models, so make sure your husband is dressed well too!

This year, try adding a few items of Christmas decor to the dress-up box to encourage Christmas in your child's imaginative play. Creating Christmas dress-ups can be a fun family activity. Add in a Santa hat and boots, and a girls red dress. Make a tiara from faux holly or make a bracelet from brass holiday bells. These are craft ideas that your child may want to help with too! You can add a snowman costume to the dress-ups by adding a white sheet and felt coals and a felt carrot. Use Velcro to attach these to the sheet, and don't forget the top hat! Children will enjoy decorating each other as a snowman and stuffing the sheet with pillows to achieve the best snowman look. Play some holiday music and encourage your children to engage in the holiday.

You can also add a nativity scene to the Christmas dress-ups. Clothing can be easily created from sheets, using belts or scarves for sashes. With nativity scenes the important items are the accessories, like a staff (broom handle) for the shepherds, wings for the angels, and a baby Jesus for Mary.
